Arc Dance Performance Teams
PLEASE indicate interest on the enrolment form and you will be sent further information in advance of the audition. New dancers welcome.
What we’re looking for:
· Motivated and passionate dancers who want to extend their skills and take up performance opportunities.
· Dancers who are able to commit to the extra sessions and activities required.
· A willingness to work collaboratively, to be respectful, kind and enthusiastic when representing Arc Dance out in the community.
· Open minded to give new movement a go and respect a choreographer’s creative vision.
· Dancers who are taking at least two dance styles weekly from age 9 and over.
TEAMS:
Junior: Age 6-8 Lyrical or jazz dance tbc. Weekly session: Fridays 4.15-5.15pm
Intermediate: Age 9-12 Jazz & lyrical dances tbc. Weekly session: Fridays 4.15-5.15pm
Senior: Age 13+ Contemporary & Lyrical dances tbc. Weekly session: Thursdays 4.15-5.15pm (if rushing from school, 4.30pm start ok)
Hip hop crew: tbc if adequate numbers. Weekly session day/time tbc.
Competition solos, duets and trios also available. Please contact Sarah directly to discuss. All styles and ages.
REHEARSALS:
Audition workshops: Saturday 1 Feb 12.30-2.30pm
This will be an informal, friendly and fun session for all interested dancers to share their skills and motivations for wanting to join performance teams. There will be time for dancers and parents/caregivers to ask questions.
Weekly sessions for extension technique work, learning and rehearsing choreography and preparing for performances (dates above).
Twice per term, dates tbc – Saturday or Sunday workshops with guest teachers, extension technique work, eg leaps and turns, floor work, stage craft/skills, choreography skills, improvisation, partnering, wellbeing etc.
Solos/duets/trios - will be taught during seperate private/semi private lessons in term 1.
These competition performances are usually a 2-3 minute dance entered into local comps. Music and choreography provided, costumes tba.

PERFORMANCES & OPPORTUNITIES:
· 8-10 x Competitions (Auckland based) throughout the year
· Teams may wish to gain a PACANZ nomination from local comps to travel to the national Finals in New Plymouth (22-25 October 2026, Labour weekend, troupes usually perform on the first day, with optional workshops following). This is a very exciting event to perform and see talent from across the country.
· If a Hip Hop crew is formed (tbc, depending on interest) Hip Hop specific competitions will be identified in addition to local dance comps, eg Blueprint -Wednesday 8 July
· Performance dates tbc – local retirement villages
· Other performance opportunities as they arise and depending on availability
· Term 2: date tbc, all Teams perform at the exam concert day and are able to enter the student choreography competition
· Christmas Parade performance: date not yet available, end Nov/early Dec
· End of year concert: date tbc – Rae Freedman Centre, early December, 2-4 shows across the weekend
Private lessons:
Private lessons are available at any time during the year, for choreography, rehearsal and/ or exam preparation or to extend technique work. Please contact Sarah to enquire.
